The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is one of the largest, most diverse providers of social services in the UK after the Government. Founded in East London in 1865, they are now working in 120 countries worldwide. Local Salvation Army church and community centres offer a range of activities and services within their local communities. People can become involved in all sorts of ways, through volunteering with fundraising initiatives, attending church services and helping with local activities. The Salvation Army also supports the work of the emergency services by providing refreshments, shelter and counselling at major incidents.

The Donkey Sanctuary

The Donkey Sanctuary is an international animal welfare charity and aims to protect donkeys and mules and promote their welfare worldwide. The charity works in over 29 countries and has provided 14,500 donkeys and mules with a sanctuary for life over the last 40 years. Currently The Donkey Sanctuary gives 400,000 overseas treatments to working donkeys worldwide each year, but, the sad truth is that the charity is having to help more and more neglected donkeys than ever, and without donations, The Donkey Sanctuary can't be there for them all.
